May 1, 2002, Toronto Zoo welcomed the arrival of two Koala bears (Quamby and Doowi) on loan from the San Diego Zoo. They are scheduled to stay here in Toronto for 6 month. I gave these Koalas a vista on May 26, 2002. Here’s a few photo that I took over the winter time in the Metro Toronto Zoo. It is early in the morning. Most of the snow from yesterday’s storm has melted under the warmth of the rising sun. Golden light is cast over the tiger den. I snapped this picture while the tiger is checking out its territory atop a tree stump. Having written a post all about the two cute polar cubs at the zoo, adult polar bears felt left out. So here’s a post all about the adult polar bears at the Metro Toronto Zoo. Here in the Metro Toronto Zoo, the adult polar bears has a single enclosure. There’s some rocky area and a pool where they can swim in. Since polar bears likes to swim a lot, the pool also has an underwater viewing area. This is the great 2001 predators roundup. Now this year the most exciting thing is obviously the birth of two Siberian Tiger cubs. However, these other predators deserves some air time as well. These are Arctic Wolfs, distinguished from the Gray Wolf by their year round white coat and shorter snort and ears. |
